African yellow bat

The African yellow bat (''Scotophilus dinganii'') is a species of bat in the family Vespertilionidae, the vesper bats. Other common names include African yellow house bat, yellow-bellied house bat, and Dingan's Bat.〔Griffin, M. 2008. (''Scotophilus dinganii''. ) The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Version 2014.3. Downloaded on 11 April 2015.〕 It is one of fifteen species in the genus ''Scotophilus''.
This bat is native to Africa, where it occurs in Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.〔
This species lives in savanna habitat, and it can be found near human habitation, where it roosts in houses. It may roost singly or in small colonies.〔
